If there is one product that has really shaken up the Home Cinema market in the past 12 months it has to be the Black Diamond projector screen from Screen Innovations. (www.SIScreens.com).  So whats so special about this screen.

• You can use this screen in ambiant light. As long as the light the is not coming from the same position as the projector then this screen will reject the light. This means that you don't have to sit in the dark anymore to watch your sports & movies or or play your favourute game. Maybe this doesn't sound that big a deal but anyone that has ever had anormal white projector screen will know how unique this is.
• It's self masking. So for excample say you have a 16:9 Black Diamond screen and you wanted to watch Casino Royal on Blu-ray. You would normaly have white / grey bars above and below the film as it is shot in 2.40. When you use the Black Diamond the bars are closer to black, which means you dont have to purchase a masking system which is always a very expensive option
• The contrast ratio improves. Blacks are blacker than you have ever seen and whites and colours seem to pop off the screen.
• When it's not being used it looks like a large plasma sitting on the wall

The screen material is made up of several layers that are all opticaly treated. It rejects light from all light sources except directly in front of it. It's available in 2 screen gains 0.8 & 1.4 and will be available sometime this year as a motorised option. (At the moment it only comes as a fixed screen).
