If you are looking for a TV that is 37" or bigger in diagonal then we would normally recommend Plasma over LCD for watching TV. Plasma handles fast motion better, offers better black levels, and a better off axis viewing angle. The one area where LCD is superior is brightness. If you plan to watch TV in a bright room most of the time, then this might be a good reason to choose LCD over plasma.
Screen burn-in is really a thing of the past and the myth that you need to re-fill the plasma with gas after a few year was just that - a myth.
(If you are looking for a TV that is smaller than 37" then you have no choice and have to pick an LCD, as plasmas are not made any smaller that 37")
