Even when the finest speakers are perfectly positioned, the room itself can have a dramatic negative impact on sound quality. Room dimensions, dead spots, archways, even furniture can turn a room into an additional instrument adding unwanted coloration and resonance to music and movies. You could spend many thousands on your speakers but unless you run some sort of room correction you will not hear them at their best.

We have played around with many systems over they ears and have found most are very hit and miss. It's very hard to achieve a good result if you have a cheap plastic microphone that comes with a typical Home Cinema Amplifier. Also the limiting power of the internal processors only allows small changes to the overall sound. Any decent room correction system will require a computer of some sort. The only solution we would recommend at this moment in time is from Anthem. Their implemntation is called Anthem Room Correction (ARC). It is available on their 'entry level' receivers , the MRX-300, MRX-500 & the MRX-700 along with their higher end Home Cinema Processors called the AVM-50v & D2v Statement.

Now of course we would say that because we sell & distribute the brand in Ireland but that doesn't mean it isn't the best solution out there. I't hard to descibe how good this Room Correction system is. Every Home Cinema receiver and processor comes with their own calibrated mircophone and a proper microphone stand. When you listen to the results, they are very impressive. Bass is tighter and more powerful. Speech is easier to hear and there is a better seperation in all of the speaker channels. Once you listen with ARC engaged you'll never go back.
